Care at a glance

Light: Bright indirect. Place it near a bright window but out of harsh midday sun. In Seattle, an east-, west- or south-facing window usually works well.

Water: Keep evenly moist, never soggy. Water less in winter, when Seattle’s short days slow growth.

Humidity: High. Indoor heating dries the air in winter — a humidifier or pebble tray helps.
